Lower Manya Krobo confirms Jacob Frederick Acolatse as MCE

Assembly Members at the Lower Manya Krobo District Assembly have endorsed the President’s nominee for the Municipal Chief Executive, Jacob Frederick Kwame Acolatse. 

Mr. Acolatse who until his appointment was the Acting Managing Director of the Ghanaian Times News Paper polled 30 votes out of 45 assembly members present with 14 against and one rejected vote to get the nod to superintend over the affairs of the Municipality. 

He replaces Mr. Isaac Agbo-Tetteh was recently relieved of his post as the Municipal Chief Executive for the area.

Ketu North Assembly among best performing districts in revenue mobilization

The Ketu North District is one of only eleven districts in the Volta Region that have performed well in revenue mobilization in 2013.

This was disclosed by Mr. William Akoto, Chief Local Government Inspector in the Volta Region at a function in Ave-Dakpa.

The district shares this honour with the Ho, Hohoe, Keta, Ketu North, Adaklu, Krachi West, North Tongu, South Tongu, Ho West, and Afadjato South Municipal/District Assemblies.

When Ghanadistricts.com contacted the District Chief Executive, Mr. Claver Kofi Lawson said the assembly looks forward to doing even far better this year and initial performance shows they are on course.

Abura DCE hands over land for construction of fish market

A more suitable and convenient fish market is to be constructed at Moree in the Abura Asebu-Kwamankese District in the Central Region to enhance the sale of fish in the area.

District Chief Executive for the area, William Atta-Mends who handed over a one acre land for the construction of the market underscore the importance of the market, adding that being a fishing community, it is the hope of the assembly to liaise with   other stakeholders to improve infrastructure that will boost trading activities of their people. He said the market is in line with measure to reduce poverty in the area by empowering the people economically.

Talensi Assembly camps students ahead of BECE

About two thousand final year students due for Basic Education Certificate Examination in the Talensi District in the Upper East Region are in camp for the next two weeks until they commence final exams.

The students camped in seven different clusters across the district will have the privilege to be taught by qualified examiners especially in English, Mathematics and Science. Apart from content, they will also be guided to be able to answer questions correctly in the exams.

Anti-smuggling team intercepts 91 bags of cocoa bean in Juaboso district

Ninety-one bags of cocoa beans being smuggled into Ivory Coast have been intercepted by the Anti-smuggling team in the Juaboso District in the Western Region.

The 91 bags of cocoa beans were intercepted in two separate operations within three days intervals.
