Landing beach Committees in the Nzema East Municipality in the Western Region have been called upon to serve the people well without discrimination.
The Municipal Chief Executive, James Atta Kakra Baidoe in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com rated the performance of the four landing beach committees in the municipality including Apewosika, Lower Axim, Upper Axim and Brawire Landing Beaches as satisfactory, but noted that there were times that people complain about mode of distribution.
He said the supply of the premix fuel was because of government’s determination to empower the people economically. As such there was no need depriving anybody who genuinely needs the product for fishing. He thus urged them to streamline their operations their operations to ensure greater transparency and efficiency.
On social responsibilities of the committees, the MCE lauded efforts by the Apewosika, and Brawire Landing Beach Committees to judiciously utilize the proceeds from the sale of the premix fuel to benefit their communities.
According to him, the Apewosika committee has constructed community clinic to help bring health delivery closer to residents. The building has been completed and roofed but yet to be furnished to be put to full use.
Brawire Committee on the other hand has also spent GHs14, 973.00 in building two room stores, and procured 200 plastic chaires and 12 rooms’ canopies to assist the community in social gatherings.
The store rooms would be used to secure the materials weather and criminals, as well as giving the community easy access any time the materials are needed.
