Cecilia Memorial Clinic Medical Director calls for regular claim payment

The Medical Director at the Cecilia & Sammy Memorial Maternity Clinic at Assin Fosu in the Central Region, Jane Adjei Bernice has appealed to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to ensure regular payment of claims to health insurance providers especially private ones to enable.

This she noted would enable them honour their obligations to their workers and more importantly ensure smooth and quality delivery to patients since that is one of the main objectives of the scheme.

She also wants prices of drugs to be increased to conform with the prices on the market. She noted that the current prices fall short of the market prices and is having a toll on the facilities.

According to her, in spite of the teething challenges that confront the scheme, it has really affected the lives of many poor households positively as they don’t have to worry about money before reporting to the hospital and this reduces a lot of complications.

Madam Jane Adjei noted that like government facilities, the private ones also requires a lot of capital to keep on providing services to the public. “The sector is capital intensive and we always have to strive to keep up with new developments”. Though progress is being made, the process has to be accelerated so that the private facilities are not unjustifiable suffocated, she stated.
