Thanks to the intervention of Odotobri Rural Bank, Jacobu, the district capital for the Amansie Central District now has a community library.
Odotobri
Rural Bank with its headquarters at Jacobu responded to the needs of the
society as part of its corporate social responsibility in putting up the
facility as away to boost education in the society.
The
30-seater capacity centre fully connected with internet is welcome news to the
general public in the district and students in particular since it will provide
avenue for practical learning of ICT skills. Students therefore have reason to
smile since there is an avenue to channel their energy after school to acquire
new skills for the future.
District
Chief Executive for the area, Emmanuel Dede Appiah who jointly commissioned the
facility with Mr. Wadja Director, GES, Nana Fosu Kwadwe Abiri II Jacobuhene and
some Board Members of the Odotobri Rural Bank Ltd, commended the bank for the
initiative and their involvement in trying to promote education in the
district. He however, appealed to the bank to extend the gesture to other
communities in the district where they have branches so those there can also
benefit.
The
DCE also reminded those who will manage the centre to ensure strict adherence
to best practices to prevent people from accessing materials that are
detrimental to their development, adding that internet though positive equally
posses threats which has to be well managed.
Mr.
Appiah also admonished students to attach importance to their education and to
take advantage of the ICT centre to learn good skills that will propel them to
greater heights in future.
