Forty-five new bedsitter houses completed in the Keta Municipality

Some forty-five new residential houses under the Keta Sea Defence project have been completed in the Keta Municipality.

The 15 each bedsitter houses built at Adzido, Vodza, and Kedzi are targeted at providing suitable and conducive roof over the heads of residents who lost their houses as a result of the sea defense project.

The houses come in 3, 2, and 1 bedroom depending on the family size.

At Adzido, the Chief fisherman, Mr. George Akakpo noted that the quality of materials used for the new houses was better than previous ones and commended government for continuing to build more houses for the people.

He was however worried about the slow pace of work, adding that a lot of people are without accommodation while there is enough land available that can accommodate over 200 of such houses.  He therefore urged government to build more of the houses as people still struggle for accommodation.

Mr. Akakpo also noted that the community is still faced with many challenges especially in the area of education adding that there is a need to build more classroom blocks to deal with congestion in the classroom. Worse of all, he disclosed that the community is without teachers’ bungalow making it difficult for teachers’ to stay close by.

He also appealed for kindergarten, community centre, potable water and street light in the community.

Meanwhile the Municipal Chief Executive, Sylvester Tornyeava disclosed that NADMO is currently holding consultations for the distribution of the newly built houses.

He said the project is being carried out in phases and assured that with time everybody will get their house.
