Nana Antwi Siaw, DCE |
The Kwahu East District Assembly finally got District Chief Executive having gone almost a year without one to spearhead activities of the district.
This time, the President’s nominee, Nana Antwi Siaw (aka
Hayford Quaye) has been approved one touch by the assembly members during
voting.
Out of the 32 assembly members present, Mr. Siaw polled 25
votes representing 78.12% as against 7 no representing 21.88% to be confirmed
the new DCE.
He commended the assembly members for the confidence reposed
in him and called for their support to ensure they deliver as unit for the
growth of the district.
He said his main focus would be to tackle the developmental
challenges confronting the people for which he needs the involvement of the
assembly as they are closest to the people.
Before the ballot, the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Ama
Frimpong asked members to leave the past behind them and put the welfare of the
district ahead to give the nominee the nod to ensure the assembly starts
functioning effectively again.
When all was over and victory was attained, the Deputy
Minister advised the new DCE to involve all stakeholders including the chiefs
and assembly members if he wants to achieve success in his new portfolio.
The traditional authorities also pledged their support for
the new DCE, urging him to respect his own promise to make development his
hallmark.
Interestingly, the heavy presence of the police who were
on hand to forestall any unforeseen circumstances, turned out not to have any
work to do since everything turned out peacefully.
