Kumawu District hospital pledge on course

Government will soon make true its promise of building an ultra modern district hospital for the people of Kumawu as part of its measures to bridge disparities in heath care accessibility in the country especially between t he urban and rural folks.

The Minister of health, Sherry Ayittey sent a strong signal of the preparedness of the government to achieving this when he cut sod at Kansaworodo near Takoradi for the commencement of six District Hospitals in the country. The rest of the facilities will be sited at Abetifi, Garu Tempane, Dodowa, Formena.

The Minister indicated that aside bringing health delivery closer to the people; the projects are also designed to aid the fight against infant and maternal mortality in order to attain the Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5. Because the hospitals are also target to serve as referral hospitals to offer quality health care, they are designed to have doctors and nurses’ quarters attached o them to ensure that health personnel are always on hand to attend to patients.

The six health facilities are manifesto promise that the government made among other things to ensure the health sector is given a boost to meet the health demands of the citizens in the beneficiary communities and surrounding areas.
