AKATSI N: “We’re determined to have District Police Command soonest”- DCE

The leadership of the Akatsi North District in the Volta Region believes security in the district which remains peaceful can further be enhanced with a well coordinated police operation under one command.

As such the assembly in collaboration with the police service is doing all it can to get District Police Command for the Akatsi North District.

A major step towards realizing this is the move to add two additional police stations in two communities in the district including Ave Havi and Agormor to increase the total number of police stations to four. There are currently police stations at Ave Dakpa the District capital and Ave Dzalele.

The good news is that a citizen of the area, Mr. Emmanuel Atinyo has supported this noble course with the construction of the police post at Ave Hevi. This project is almost completed and the assembly is making preparations to rehabilitate a structure identified at Agormor for use as the police station.

District Chief Executive, Hon. James Gunu in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com said currently the district operates under three district police commands including Dzodze, Akatsi and Kpetoe.

According to him, because various communities fall under different police commands it becomes difficult for residents to seek the assistance of the police from the right command. “We have to do our best to have our own district command to avoid all these confusions in the minds of our people and also make police better in the district”, he added.

Mr. Gunu also indicated that the presence of the district Magistrate Court will complement the work of the police in law enforcement to further consolidate the peaceful atmosphere in the district to enable people go about their legitimate works for improve livelihood.
