Assembly to launch Corporate Social Education Fund

The Ga West Municipal Assembly is to launch Corporate Social Education Fund soon.

The initiative is a departure from the traditional educational fund from the municipal assembly's common fund.

Speaking to Ghanadistricts.com, Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Sam Atukwei Quaye said there are a number of corporate organisations in the municipality and the assembly is looking forward to enhancing their involvement in improving education in the municipality through the fund.

According to him, corporate organisations would be approached to contribute to the fund to be mand by board of trustees with representations from all stakeholders including the municipal assembly, Municipal Education Directorate, corporate institutions among others.

Mr Quaye noted that the move has necessary to inject more money into supporting more needy children to pursue their academic dreams.

Currently, about 114 students are on the assembly's educational sponsorship, he stated. But with delays in the release of common fund, it is difficult for the asembly to meet deadlines for the beneficiaries. He said the current arrangement is having a toll on the finances of the assembly especially in responding to other needs of the people.
