Assembly prepares for street, house naming exercise

The Atiwa District assembly is ready to roll out plans to conduct the street naming and house numbering exercise in the various communities across the district.

A team constituted to work closely with other stakeholders in the various communities especially in identifying names to be given the streets would soon start get into action.

District Chief Executive, Emmanuel Atta Twum, who disclosed this at the inauguration of a community centre at Kwabeng Zongo appealed for support from all and sundry to accelerate and ensure effective and successful exercise.

Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assembly’s (MMDA) have been given eighteen months period by the President, John Dramani Mahama to complete  the Street naming and house numbering exercise  and most of the assemblies for luck of funds are now battling with time to complete the exercise as the president recently reiterated his seriousness over the directive.

Proper house numbering and street naming in the district is very serious on government agenda to ensure easy identification of  places especially in times of disaster and distress situations when the services of fire services, ambulance and personnel are required but more importantly, it would help the assemblies to identify properties to collect property rates to boost their revenue.
