Municipal Chief Executive for the Asunafo North Municipal Assembly, Alhaji M. Kweku Doku on Wednesday 13, 2013 cut sod for work to begin on the construction of a modern dining hall and kitchen for the Goaso Midwifery Training School.
The facility being constructed by the municipal assembly aimed at addressing some of the infrastructure challenges confronting the school.
The establishment of the Goaso Midwifrey Training School in December 2010 was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Alhaji Doku, the MCE, Nananom of the Goaso Traditional Council and the Ministry of Health to help train more personnel to help in the fight against high maternal and neonatal mortality.
Addressing the gathering, the MCE reiterated the assembly’s resolve to support the school in any way possible despite the meager resources to make it attractive and serve its intended purpose. He said the world over is trying to find lasting to maternal death and that they would also o their best for the school to survive. To this end, Alhaji Doku said the assembly is making plans to assist the school with hostel facility. At the moment, private accommodations have been rented for the trainees as hostels and they are scattered all over the town.
He advised traditional authorities in the municipality to work together for accelerated development, calling on them to accept any location that development projects are sited since it would benefit everybody in the municipality.
