Prioritize establishment of CHPS compounds-Prez

Metropolitan Municipal and District assemblies have been directed to prioritize the establishment of community-based health planning schemes (CHPS) compounds in communities that are in need of health facilities to enhance health delivery.

President Mahama who gave the directive when he met the MMDCEs at the Local government Institute said the effort is important to make good government's promise of establishing 1,600 CHPS compound by 2016 as contained in the Manifesto of the National Democratic Congress.

To this end, MMDA are to collaborate with health directorates in their jurisdictions to identify areas that require the facility in their communities and work out programmes, direct resources for their establishment within the specified time frame.

Concerning human resource development, President Mahama asked Metropolitan Municipal and District assemblies to work towards integrating kindergarten education into existing basic education system to ensure every child gets a good start.

They are therefore to provide new structures for such schools, ensure quality education through effective supervision as well as ensure that they deduce measures to ensure that all children of school going age are admitted in school.
