The Member of Parliament for Ayensuano Samuel Ayeh-Paye has promised to channel more resources to promoting education of needy but brilliant students from his constituency.
He indicated that over 60 students most of whom are in the tertiary levels, including nursing training colleges, teacher training, polytechnic, and the university are under his educational scholarship with few others at the senior high level.
According to him, though the statutory funds from government to the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies; portions of which MPs are entitled to for development purposes are not fourth coming, he sometimes had to rely on his personal money to ensure those students remain in school.
For those students who had to use their own money or seek help from other sources to avoid embarrassment from school authorities or losing out on classes, the MP assured them that he will re-disburse them as soon as funds are made available to the assemblies and the MPs.
He urged beneficiaries of the scholarship to take their studies seriously to make good the investment being made in them so as to make meaningful contributions to the development of the country, themselves and their families at the right time.
