Claver Lawson, DCE |
Mr. Lawson polled 40 votes out of 55 votes representing 72.7 percent as against 15 votes against to be confirmed to take care of the administration of the assembly for a second term.
He commended the assembly members for the confidence and trust reposed in him and promised to continue with the open door policy to ensure transparency in the affairs of the assembly. He called for more support from the assembly members and all other stakeholders to enable them move the development of the assembly forward even better than what they achieved during the last four years.
Prior to the election, the Volta Regional Minister, Nii Afotey Agbo lament on current development in which very competent personalities who even distinguished themselves in the performance of their duties as MMDCEs are being rejected for political reasons, while others also sort to use the confirmation as a platform to settle personal scores.
He therefore called on them to avoid those things to put the welfare of their people first and approve the nominees for speedy work to commence at the assembly.
Rejection of MMDCE appointees has for some time now taken centre stage in the Ghanaian media, following violent reactions in few areas including Nkwanta North.
The development raised a lot of questions about whether enough consultations were not carried out before appointing said individuals, or whether it was just party politics that was being displayed.
