Hohoe Lorry Park gets facelift

The new Hohoe Lorry Park
The Hohoe Municipal Assembly without any shred of doubt remains one of the most important economic hub in the Volta Region.

Strategically positioned, it serves as the central point that coordinates economic activities between the south and the northern parts of the region as well as the three regions in the north having been located along the eastern corridor road, an important link that is known to be shorter from the capital city, Accra to the three regions in the north and beyond the borders of Ghana. It is therefore not surprising the efforts of government to improve the road network along the corridor to ensure smooth transportation of goods and services.

It is to consolidate their importance and reap the full economic benefits from the travelling and business public that the Municipal assembly has decided to improve on infrastructure use by commuters since it is only by this means that the assembly can also improve on its revenue.

In few of this, the main lorry station at the municipality has been given a facelift with improved infrastructure notably 20 no. lockable stores, 1 no. 20-seater water closet toilet facility, bath houses, 4 no. waiting sheds as well as improved drainage facility to ensure rain water properly exits the facility to prevent destruction to the property.

The assembly spent GHs 1,363,605.64 on the project ; details of which include Ground floor-GH¢238,016.68; 600m2 pavement- 194,040.00 and  230,617.54; Urinal and bath-GHs223,075.46; U-drains-224,039.02; Extra U- GHs 193,966.85 and GHs59,850.09.

Authorities are confident the new facilities provided at the station will not only provide comfort to commuters but more importantly increase traffic to the place to improve revenue to the assembly
which can then be channeled to other needs of the people.
